Advanced High Strength Steels (AHSS)

Advanced high strength steels (AHSS) are becoming more and more prominent in essential industries such as automotive. Most of today’s steel is strengthened with the carbon element, because this helps the steel meet specific yield and tensile specifications. However, high strength steels (also sometimes referred to as HSLA or high strength, low alloy) are strengthened primarily by micro-alloying elements. Additionally, advanced high strength steels take this to another level thanks to a new rolling process that makes it more formable than before. Moreover, his can lighten the structure in applications such as automotive for improved fuel economies.
